Hollins Grove Street junction

  • Improvement to the staggered crossing between Hollins Grove Street and Clarence Street.
  • New traffic lights junction at Earnsdale Road and Hollins Grove Street. There will also be improved pedestrian facilities.

The Hollins Street junction improvements will start on w/c 17th March 2014 and are due to be finished by July. Works will be under temporary traffic control which will be manually operated at all times by a traffic management marshal. Delays are to be expected during this time and the Council apologises for any disruption to journeys during the period of the works.

Earcroft junction

  • Future provision for bus priority on the Blackburn approach to the Earcroft junction, from Birch Hall Avenue to Moss Fold Road.
  • New signals at the Birch Hall Avenue junction with the A666.
  • A new proposed zebra crossing will be located immediately north of View Road.
  • Enhanced traffic signals to provide bus priority at the Earcroft junction.
  • Enhanced cycling facilities at Earcroft junction.
  • A new 29 space car park on the site of the former Lancashire Laminators building for residents will be constructed.

Work is due to start on the Earcroft junction in May 2014, with completion by August 2014.

Oakdale junction

  • Improved traffic signal equipment to provide bus priority at the Oakdale junction.

This work will be undertaken after the works to the Earcroft junction are completed.

Branch Road junction

  • Introduction of public transport priority on the Blackburn approach to the Branch Road junction including separate signals for buses.
  • Enhanced pedestrian and cycling facilities are to be provided along with improved drainage for surface water.

Work on the Branch Road junction is due to start in March and are expected to complete in June 2014. Works will be under temporary traffic control which will be manually operated at all times by a traffic management marshal. Delays are to be expected during this time and the Council apologises for any disruption to journeys during the period of the works.
