Improvements along this part of the route include:

  • The provision of high quality bus shelters creating a mini bus hub which will be positioned on Bolton Road.
  • Public transport priority on A666 Bolton Road to the entrance of the mini bus hub.
  • To create the space for the mini bus hub, a new link road with a roundabout junction at Livesey Branch road and linked to Aqueduct Road will be created to take traffic from Bolton Road.
  • An access to the Traveller’s Site will be provided off the new access road to the current site front gate.
  • Enhanced traffic signals to provide bus priority at the Bolton Road / Aqueduct Road junction.
  • Improvements to cycling and pedestrian facilities throughout the area.
  • New traffic signals at Catterall Street Junction with Livesey Branch Road and Albion Street to ensure the safety of all highways users.

Works are expected to start at the beginning of June to coincide with the end of the football season and will last for approximately 12 months.
