Governors recruited through Your Call

Over 30 people have come forward to be school governors through the Your Call Scheme.

Launched last September the Your School Your Call campaign asked residents to consider becoming part of the largest volunteering group in the country, by becoming school governors.

To date the campaign has been a major success with over 15 residents and more than 12 Council officers coming forward to be considered for school governor positions.

Councillor Dave Harling Executive member for Schools and Education said “This huge response by our community really emphasises how important and how necessary school governors are to the education of our young people.”

“The number of people that have come forward really shows the commitment to this borough by its residents. This commitment and this pride is the driving force for the Your Call scheme, Your Call allows residents to take responsibility for the issues that matter to them.”

“Personally I have been overwhelmed by the number of people that have come forward, and I thank all of them for wanting to make a positive impact on our schools.”
