Are you aged 19 or above? (18 if you are receiving Job Centre benefit) It does not matter about your circumstances; you are eligible for free, confidential one to one advice that’s right for you.  This includes:

  • What jobs you could do
  • What training and funding is available
  • Where to look to find the right jobs
  • How to get interviews with a CV or using application forms
  • How to prepare for interviews and perform at your very best so you get the job

Work Clubs in Blackburn with Darwen

If you're looking for a job and could use some support, Blackburn with Darwen Council and some community organisations are running free Work Clubs.

First Steps into Employment course

The First Steps into Employment course is delivered two days per week over a four week period.  The course will provide you with an opportunity to:

  • Identify and develop your own skills
  • Develop an up to date CV and covering letter
  • Prepare for interviews
  • Develop confidence through team building activities

In addition you will get the opportunity to take part in accredited:

  • CIEH Level 1 in Food Safety
  • CIEH Level 2 in Emergency First Aid at Work

Help with English and maths

We can help you improve your reading, writing and maths skills by offering free classes at different levels at various venues. Whether your aim is to confidently fill in forms, help the children with their homework, or gain a qualification to go onto other courses or for work.

If English is not your first language, we run courses that can help you improve your English speaking and listening skills, as well as useful advice about living and working in Britain and citizenship.

Community learning courses

Short courses in the community are available on a range of subjects, some being 2hr workshops and others lasting for a number of weeks.

Our aim is to make sure you enjoy learning with us and help you achieve. Courses are designed for general interest (leisure learning), as well as to support you to move onto further learning and employment, as well as improve your health and wellbeing.
