Higher CroftIssue: Visitors to the cemetery complained about the unsightly state of the churchyard and its graves.

What happened? A clean-up

Residents joined forces in a clean up at St James Church, Stopes Brow.

More than 20 volunteers got together to spruce up the area. They cut the grass, tended to the graves, cleared paths and rooted out weeds.

Councillor Kate Hollern, Leader of Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council, said: “This is another example of how an issue has been identified by local residents and how they have rallied  together to improve their local area.”
